Fine art & antiques
Catalogued lot intake with condition reports, provenance tracking, AML / sanctions screening on high-value buyers, post-sale shipping coordination with specialist art handlers.
We build bespoke auction platforms for independent houses — fine art, equestrian, luxury goods, antiques and specialist categories. Timed online. Live webcast. Hybrid. Buyer's premium, KYC, consignor settlements and ERP integration done properly. You own the code, the data, and every pixel of the bidder experience. No per-lot fees. No SaaS lock-in.
We're vertical-agnostic but specialist-friendly. The platform underneath is the same — bidding engine, KYC, settlement, integrations — and we tune the bidder experience, lot taxonomy and post-sale workflow to the category you actually trade in. If you can describe the auction format, we can build it.
Catalogued lot intake with condition reports, provenance tracking, AML / sanctions screening on high-value buyers, post-sale shipping coordination with specialist art handlers.
Sport horses, broodmares, foals, yearlings. Vetting reports, X-ray archives, pedigree integration, agent-on-behalf bidding, post-sale transport coordination.
Watches, jewellery, handbags. Authentication-evidence pipeline, high-value KYC, restricted-bidder lists, white-glove logistics, multi-currency settlement.
Industrial, classic cars, wine, books, collectibles, asset disposal. Whatever the format — timed, live, sealed-bid, tender — we build to spec.
Where clients have agreed to public attribution, you can browse the live platform and see the work end-to-end — bidder UX, lot detail pages, the catalogue layout, the live bidding interface.
Every auction platform we build covers these six pillars. Depth varies by client — a fine-art house needs heavy KYC + condition reporting; an equestrian auction needs pedigree + vet-report integration; a general house needs a fast catalogue tool. The architecture stays consistent.
Server-rendered catalogue (fast, SEO-indexable). Filterable by category, estimate, location, status. Lot-detail pages with image zoom, condition reports, provenance, related lots.
Server-authoritative clock. Anti-sniping extensions. Proxy bidding. Reserve & start-price handling. Auctioneer clerk interface for live webcast (room / phone / online lots in one screen).
Onfido / Veriff / SumSub integration for ID + selfie. Card-AVS pre-auth. Sanctions + UBO checks for high-value lots. Configurable thresholds per category.
Configurable buyer's premium (tiered, vendor-specific, lot-specific). VAT margin scheme for second-hand goods. Invoicing in your accounting system on hammer-fall.
Consignors see their lots, watch live, get statements. Auto-generated settlement statements after each sale. Optional 1099 / agent commission splits.
Outbid notifications (email + SMS via Twilio + push). Lot-end alerts. Won-lot invoices. Saved-search digests. All branded as your house, not us.
We almost always start with the lot intake / cataloguing tool. If you can't catalogue a sale efficiently, nothing else matters — bidders never see the lots. Once cataloguing is solid, we layer in bidding, then KYC, then settlement. Live in fortnightly increments.
2 weeks. Sale-day workflow walkthrough, lot taxonomy, format definitions (timed/live/hybrid), KYC thresholds, settlement flow, ERP integration map, fixed-price build quote.
Catalogue + bidder accounts + timed bidding + invoicing live. Soft-launch one sale on the new platform with us in the room. UAT, sandbox auctions, rollback plan, dress rehearsal.
Live webcast, KYC tier-up, consignor portal, mobile app, white-label affiliate channels. Built in priority order against your actual sale calendar.
We optimise auction platforms for the two things that actually matter on sale day: a bidding clock that everyone trusts, and a database that doesn't fall over when 800 bidders refresh in the final 30 seconds. We pick tech that's been deployed at scale for a decade — not whatever's trending on Hacker News this week.
Stripe Connect (UK/EU), Worldpay, GoCardless for bank-debit settlements. PCI-DSS SAQ A scope.
Onfido / Veriff / SumSub. Comply Advantage for sanctions + PEP screening on lots > threshold.
AWS or Hetzner EU. Cloudflare in front. EU data residency. 99.95% target uptime, surge-tested before each major sale.
Postmark / SendGrid for transactional email, Twilio for SMS, OneSignal for push. Branded sender domain with DMARC enforcement.
No — and we won't pretend to. The cookie-cutter auction SaaS products on the market (Bidlogix, Auction Mobility, the various WordPress plugins) are perfectly fine for some auctioneers. They are also why most independent auction houses' websites look identical. We build bespoke. Your bidder interface, your buyer's-premium structure, your lot intake workflow, your post-sale invoicing and shipping integrations are all custom. You own the code.
Timed online auctions (eBay-style countdown with anti-sniping extensions), live webcast auctions (real-time bidding alongside the rostrum and phone bids), Buy-It-Now / private treaty fixed-price listings, sealed-bid tender auctions, and hybrid formats. We've also built bid-on-behalf workflows for high-value clients who don't want to bid live themselves.
Yes. Every bidder is KYC'd before they can register a card or place a bid above your configurable threshold. We integrate with Onfido, Veriff or SumSub for ID + selfie verification, plus a card-AVS pre-auth so we know the payment method is genuine before the hammer falls. For fine-art clients we add UBO checks, sanctions screening and source-of-funds questions for purchases above €10k.
Yes — every sale becomes a sales invoice (with buyer's premium, VAT margin scheme where applicable, and shipping line items) in your accounting system of choice. Refunds become credit notes. Consignor settlements are produced as a downloadable statement plus a draft purchase invoice for your finance team to approve. We've built this against Sage 50, Sage 200, AccountsIQ, Xero and NetSuite.
MVP for a single-format house (e.g. timed online only): 8–12 weeks. Full hybrid (timed + live webcast + private treaty): 14–20 weeks. We always start with a 2-week paid discovery so you know exactly what you're getting, and we ship in fortnightly increments so you see real progress instead of a black-box delivery.
Yes — we integrate with low-latency RTMP / WebRTC providers (Mux, Cloudflare Stream, AWS IVS) so bidders see the rostrum within 2–3 seconds of the room. The bidding clock is server-authoritative, so there's no advantage to a faster connection. We also build the auctioneer's clerk interface (lot calling, room/phone/online bid entry, hammer).
You do. The source code, the database, the brand, every line of CSS. We host it (or migrate to your cloud), we run it on a small monthly retainer, and we keep building features as your business grows. If you ever want to take it in-house or move providers, you can — there's no lock-in, no proprietary file formats, no per-lot fee.
One short call. Bring your sale calendar, your current platform (or 'we run it on Excel + a phone'), and the formats you trade in — timed, live, hybrid, sealed-bid. We'll come back within two working days with whether we're a fit and what discovery would cost.
